Summer is finally here which means a lot of Backpacking trips planned. This year we are planning to backpack Olympic National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, the Wallowas, and summit Diamond Peak. This means buying lots of backpacking food for each trip. It is important when backpakcing to bring food that you can trust is Gluten Free. You do not want to be stuck stick on the trails. Here are a few of the items that I typically bring along on my trips.
Wild Zora Backpacking Meals
I always bring Wild Zora Meals to Go with me in the backcountry. They are 100% Gluten Free and Paleo and are made in a dedicated facility. They are also a family run company so I love supporting them. Not to mention their meals are delicious and filled with good nutrients that you need when burning calories hiking all day.
New Primal Beef Sticks
These beef sticks are a super easy snack to eat on the go while hiking. They are certified Gluten Free and made with all natural ingredients and grass-fed beef. It can be quite challenging finding Celiac safe beef jerky due to the additives that most jerky companies add to their beef. I was thrilled when I found New Primal and was able to eat jerky in the backcountry again with no fear of getting cross contaminated.
Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers
After hiking all day, I crave these crackers. They are super lightweight and the package inside the box does not take up that much space which makes them easy to take with you backpacking. It is nice to have an easy salty snack as a treat while backpacking and these are my favorite. I sometimes crush them up and put them in my Wild Zora meals as a topping.
GoGoSqueez Apple Sauce Packets
Okay I know these are technically for kiddos but they make the perfect backpacking snack. My friend turned me onto them and I have brought them on every trip since. All of their products are free from the top allergens. They are super easy to eat without a spoon and make a quick snack on the go.
Bandit Wine
Bandit wine is perfect for backpacking. Their containers are Eco-friendly and made with the use of renewable resources in order to reduce their carbon footprint. They also fold down after use making them super easy to stuff in your pack once you are done using them. Not to mention the wine itself is delicious.
